چکیده
In species of similar shape and size, biometric analyses make it possible to establish differences. Within one species, biometrics can help researchers detect differences between populations analyze their adaptations environmental conditions. Until now little was known about the Iberian Boyeria irene (Odonata: Aeshnidae), a large living mainly in southern Europe. Eight variables were studied male female exuviae B. collected three rivers Peninsula, with objective ascertaining which are most suitable this study. An analysis principal components (PCA) shows that lengths epiproct, paraproct prementum influential each populations. The other (head width, body length, length gonapophyses, maximum minimum width prementum) proved not be relevant context.

Emergence phenology, uncertainty, and the evolution of migratory behavior in Anax junius (Odonata: Aeshnidae)
Mass migrations by Odonata, although less studied than those of Monarch butterflies and plague locusts, have provoked comment and study for many years. Relatively recently, increasing interest in dragonflies, supported by new technologies, has resulted in more detailed knowledge of the species involved, behavioral mechanisms, and geographic extent. In this paper we examine, in four independent ...
متن کاملDescription of the final instar larva of Rhionaeschna vigintipunctata (Ris, 1918) (Odonata: Aeshnidae).
The final instar larva of Rhionaeschna vigintipunctata (Ris) (Odonata, Aeshnidae) is described for the first time. The description is based on a series of mature female larvae collected in Tucumán (NW Argentina) and reared to imago. It shares the U-shaped distal excision of epiproct with other larvae of the Marmaraeschna group (only R. pallipes and R. brevicercia known from this stage); but the...
متن کاملDescription of the larva of Neuraeschna claviforcipata Martin, 1909 (Insecta: Odonata: Aeshnidae).
The ultimate stadium larva of Neuraeschna claviforcipata is described and illustrated based on an F-0 exuvia of a reared female from northern Amazonas State, Brazil. This larva differs from the other two known larvae of the genus in lacking the spiny lateral prominence of the mandible, and in having only a short spine each side of the median cleft of the prementum; labium is shorter and cercus ...
متن کاملSimultaneous control of head and thoracic temperature by the green darner dragonfly Anax junius (Odonata: Aeshnidae)
Anax junius is a large dragonfly that regulates thoracic temperature (Tth) during flight. This species, like several other intermittently endothermic insects, achieves control of Tth at least in part by increasing circulation of hemolymph to the abdomen at high air temperature (Ta), thus facilitating heat loss from the thorax. In this paper, I demonstrate that heat transfer to the head is also ...
